Joe Leaves the States: Monday, October 26!
Immediate prayer request:
Joe flies out Monday, October 26, and Abbey and the girls follow as soon as their flights (and Severus’) are set. The visas didn’t come back from the consulate in time for September, so the date moved. Pray for safe travel and a smooth landing in Durban!
Joe and Abbey bring unique skillsets to ministries in Durban, helping them effectively minister the Gospel to their communities.
Why should I give if you’re “fully” funded?
We closed our monthly support (for the first time) on August 27, 2026. Since then, we've been asked some version of the same thing, in a hallway...
The Math Didn’t Add Up (“Fully Funded” Part 1)
The Call That Set The Date We had been praying about when to leave Joe's interim full-time job at Horizons, our sending church. Not whether to...
Target Departure Date: September 29, 2026!
Update (October 2026): The visas didn't come back from the consulate in time for September 29, so the date moved. I now leave the States Monday,...
Joe began his journey in youth ministry, where he honed his talent for using hand-me-down equipment in creative ways, enabling effective ministry on a shoestring budget. His passion for innovation led him to a church position where he excelled in worship, website platforms, video production, and social media. Joe’s knack for developing strategies that foster growth in tech, marketing, and faith has made a significant impact.
Abbey’s heart for women’s health and birth ministries was cultivated in the villages of Kenya, where her family served as full-time missionaries. As a certified doula, Abbey has primarily served low-income families, providing much-needed support and care. With 13 certifications in various areas of women’s health, she is exceptionally equipped to help churches support pregnancy, postpartum care, and young family development.
Penny and Cloe simply love Jesus with pure hearts. They are eager to share His love with other children, helping those who don’t know Him to come to know and love Him as they do. They might be the most effective missionaries of all.

Supporting Local Churches
Right now, most of the churches a Durbanite can find on Google are, like many ministries in Africa, rooted in prosperity gospel and utilizing predatory practices on destitute peoples; they sell hope with no efforts to actually help their flocks. Joe assists solid Bible-based churches in Durban with their social media and website needs to reach all people effectively, both short- and long-term. When people hear Jesus, we want them to think of ministries we partner with, not ministries that took their parent’s house from them.
Healthy Pregnancy Training
Abbey works with churches and ministries to deliver training on addressing healthy pregnancies, postpartum season, and more. With resources for a wide variety of birth situations, Abbey equips ministries to care for the whole woman, including her child and her family as they go through this journey. She works with Beautiful Feet International to continue developing resources that are used worldwide. Learn more about Beautiful Feet here.
